What Happens During a Dental Exam

A dental exam is more than just a quick look at your teeth. It’s a complete evaluation of your oral health that helps detect early signs of dental problems before they progress.

Very compassionate and caring. I broke a tooth after hours, called the next am and had an appointment in less than 2 hours. Procedure was pain free and I had a temporary crown within 2 hours of appointment. Dr. Davis is very knowledgeable ,and tells you exactly what he is doing, provides a treatment plan and is very competent and professional. Highly recommend.

Professional Teeth Cleaning and Why It Matters

Even with excellent brushing and flossing habits, plaque and tartar can still build up over time. Professional teeth cleaning removes these deposits and helps maintain healthy gums.

Why should I choose Davis Family Dentistry as my Indianapolis Dentist?

At Davis Family Dentistry, we provide comprehensive dental care for patients of all ages in a comfortable, welcoming environment. As your dentist, we focus on building long-term relationships with our patients and treating everyone like family. We offer everything from routine cleanings and exams to cosmetic dentistry and emergency care, all under one roof.

What cosmetic dentistry services do you offer?

As an experienced cosmetic dentist in Indianapolis, we offer a wide range of treatments including professional teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, dental bonding, clear aligners and complete smile makeovers. Whether you want to brighten your smile, fix chipped or gapped teeth or completely transform your appearance, our cosmetic dentistry services can help you achieve the smile you’ve always wanted.

Do you take dental insurance?

Yes, we accept most major dental insurance plans and work with your insurance company to maximize your benefits. Our team will verify your coverage before treatment and explain what’s covered so there are no surprises. If you don’t have insurance, we offer affordable self-pay rates and flexible payment plans. At Davis Family Dental, we believe quality dental care should be accessible to everyone.

How do I know if I have a cavity?

Common signs include sensitivity to hot or cold, pain when chewing, visible holes or dark spots, and lingering toothaches. Some cavities have no symptoms which is why regular exams and X-rays are important for early detection.

What should I do if I have a dental emergency?

If you experience severe pain, swelling, a chipped or knocked out tooth, or bleeding that doesn’t stop, contact our office immediately. We offer same-day emergency appointments to relieve discomfort and protect your oral health.

Do you offer options to make dental care more affordable?

Yes! We accept many PPO insurance plans and offer flexible financing options. If you’re uninsured, ask us about our in-house membership plan to save on routine care and treatments.

When should children start visiting the dentist?

Children should have their first dental visit by age 1, or within six months of their first tooth coming in. Early visits help promote healthy habits and allow the dentist to monitor proper development.
